Salvelio Meyer Videography
When people ask me at weddings what I do for a living, I tend to to pause for a moment, before confirming their suspicions. Do they think I just walk around with a video camera for fun? Well, as a matter of fact I do. I really love what I do. I was born a few decades ago in a town called Livingstone in Zambia. At the age of seven, my folks moved to South Africa and this is where I spent my growing up years. My father was South African and my mother Spanish, so I’ve spent quite a bit of my life moving between countries. After I matriculated, I studied Fine Arts at Wits (University of The Witwatersrand) and later at The University of Salamanca in Spain. Halfway through my art studies I discovered that my passion lay in photography. During a two-year stint in hotels in London, I met someone who happened to mention that Port Elizabeth had one of the best photographic schools in South Africa. So, a few months later I packed my bags and headed for the Eastern Cape. For the past twenty years or so I’ve worked in various photographic fields. Seven years ago I decided to move into video and that is where I have been ever since. I specialise in wedding videography. I have many interests, and when I’m not busy with weddings, I tend to spend a lot of time on my fine art photography, cooking and enjoying the finer things in life. I want people to understand that for me life is far more complex and exciting than a nine to five job. My job is to capture life as it happens around me in a passionate and sincere way.
