Sherry Tree
Conservation is our top priority. The trees used as a SherryTree, are in fact a highly protected tree, the Witgat or Boscia Albitrunca, also known as the “tree of life” or the “Shephardstree”. Many plant eating animals live off it and some insect species complete their life cycle on the tree. Some of the trees we use died because of poisoning trying to keep the sides of the roads clean of bush invasion. The Witgat is a very slow growing tree and we estimate that some of the trees we work with were more than a thousand years before dying. A permit is needed to harvest any part of the "Witgat"
